Pippin

20ft Waterbug Narrowboat

Whether this is your first foray into enjoying the multiple physical and psychological benefits of a life on the water, or you’re a seasoned canal enthusiast, this adorable Springer Waterbug could be the boat for you.

“Pippin” is equipped like a tiny holiday cottage, with a cute stove, fridge, even crockery and cutlery. The numerous finishing touches are evidence of a well loved, planned out and maintained narrowboat. You’ll also find solar, shore power, a cassette toilet and multiple sockets.

Propulsion comes from a reliable 10hp four stroke Yamaha engine. When we brought the boat down from the Wey navigation, she coped beautifully with a choppy and swollen Thames.

Built in 1987, three years before Springer stopped making narrowboats, “Pippin'' is a late model Waterbug with loads of charm and character. Originally constructed of 3mm steel (in order to keep the weight down for trailering), “Pippin” has been extensively overplated in 4mm mild steel to ensure she remains sturdy for decades to come.

Although designed as a leisure craft, plenty of people live full-time on Waterbugs, particularly in Central London.

We can deliver “Pippin” anywhere in mainland UK (call for prices). We are happy to lift the boat, free of charge for survey or inspection. The boat was blacked this month (May 2023) and her anodes have plenty of life left. There are no signs of corrosion where the boat has been plated.
